Filled with treats ranging from chocolates and toys to beauty products, or in the case of our collaboration with Guinness, miniature alcohol, they offer a delightful experience. The Client and Goal
Guinness, a renowned brewery, is a globally recognized for it’s distinctivley dark draught with an exceptional taste; having a rich history dating back to 1759 when Arther Guinness secured a 9,000-year lease. The Irish company is symbolised by it’s iconic harp logo, which not only exudes elegance but also represents the official national embelem of Ireland. Throughout the years, their commitment to producing high quality alcohol has remained constant.
They reached out to Magellan with the idea of creating a 12-day advent calendar for Christmas 2023, featuring a array of miniature alcohol bottles. Enhancing a sense of luxury by unveiling a different type of alcohol each day, the 12-day format and the distinct nature of the contents arguably contribute to the calendar's exclusivity. Aligining with Guinness.
12 Day Advent Clanedar
The outer design of this beautiful advent calendar features a full-colour print, ensuring a visually appealing but captivating appearance. It is also finished with an unprinted anti-scuff and matt lamination for added durability and a refined finish; similarly, the advent calendars are made out of rigid board, providing a sturdy and reliable structure.
Internally, the main calendar dimensions are 158x205x122 mm, while each of the drawers measures 120x50x50mm, offering enough space for the minature bottles of alcohol. The drawers are created from 3mm Greyboard, arranged in a 4 x 3 layout. Additionally, the drawers are designed with a die-cut and folding feature, which highlights easy access and efficient use.

Guinness aimed for their 12-day advent calendar to stand out in the highly competitive market they produce their draught in. To achieve this, it was essential to thoughtfully select the alcohol that would be implimented, ensuring each day brings a delightful surprise while catering for everyones tastes.
The assortment of miniature bottles included a selection such as – mirnoff original, Chase, Smirnoff Raspberry, Gordons Gin Original, Captain Morgan, Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale, Johnnie Walker, Tanqueray London Dry Gin, Gordons Pink Gin, Tanqueray No. 10, Baileys. And finally, saving the best for last, day number 12 featured a bottle of Guinness, the crown jewel of the collection.
The Print
The luxurious 12-day advent calendar was finished with a stunning full-colour print that accentuated Guinness' signature brand colors, particularly the gold, making it instantly recognizable. To further elevate the design, the calendar had matte lamination and an anti-scuff layer. This extra touch ensures maximum protection, keeping the calendars in pristine condition, beyond the 12 days.
The Christmas 2023 Guinness calendar showcased a tasteful snow-themed design, perfectly capturing the festive spirit in a subtle way. This design choice added to its allure for recipients. Moreover, each box with miniature bottles included a scannable barcode, allowing recipients to learn more about each alcohol type, thus enriching the experience with an interactive touch.
